    What is the trading hours of the HKex? Monday to Friday (GMT +0800 hours)
    10:00am – 12:30pm; 2:30pm – 4:00pm

    Markets will operate on normal trading days except public holidays and due to unforeseeable events (eg. typhoons, storms) as advised by HKex.

    Are all stocks listed on HSCI denominated in HK Dollars? Yes, all stocks in HSCI are denominated in HKD.
    Whcih Stocks and CFDs are available for trading? The full list of counters (201 instruments) in the Hang Seng Composite Index (HSCI) is available.

    For stocks; only long positions are available.

    For CFDs, both short and long positions are available. Currently we have 151 CFDs that are shortable but this number is variable. For full list of shortable CFDs, please refer to the Trading Conditions within the platform for full details. 

    What are the CFD types offered for HKex? Both Direct Market Access (DMA) and Over the Counter (OTC) CFDs are offered on HSCI stocks.
    What are the common classifications of stocks in Hkex? Blue chips – normally companies with the highest status and quality for investment. In Hong Kong, the constituents of the Hang Seng Index are generally recognised as blue chips.

    Red chips – companies listed on the Stock Exchange and controlled by Mainland entities, by way of direct or indirect shareholding and/or representation on the board of directors.

    Red-chip companies are incorporated outside Mainland China.

    H shares – issued by companies incorporated in Mainland China and listed on the Stock Exchange.

    A shares – issued by companies incorporated in Mainland China. They are listed and traded on the Mainland A-share markets (Shanghai and Shenzhen) and quoted in renminbi. They are not listed on the Stock Exchange.

    B shares – issued by companies incorporated in Mainland China. They are listed and traded on the Mainland B-share markets (Shanghai and Shenzhen) and quoted in foreign currencies. They are not listed on the Stock Exchange. In the past, only foreigners or foreign institutions were allowed to trade B shares. Since February 2001,

    Mainlanders have also been permitted to trade B shares, but they must trade through legal foreign currency accounts.

    What is the minimum lot size for trading?

     

    Each counter differs; per counter lot size ranges from 100 per lot to 10,000 per lot.

    Can I perform contra of or short selling for HK stocks? Short selling is only for CFDs; not stocks. Please refer to the platform for full details.
    Can we trade odd lots for HK CFDs? Only trading in board lots is offered in this market. You will receive and error message if you attempt to enter odd lots in the system.
    How are the order types for CFDs? Market, Limit, Stop, Trailing Stop
    Is there a limit on the trading volume for CFDs? No, there is no volume limit.
    Would my CFD orders be partially filled? Yes, it is the underlying stock market volume that determines how much can be filled at a certain price.
    Would my CFDs be liable for recalls if short? There is a possibility of recalls due to extraneous circumstances. 
    Is there any expiration date for holding CFDs? There is no expiration date for holding CFDs.

    What are the margins levied for CFDs? It ranges from 10% to 50% depending on the risk categorisation of the counter.

    Will my CFDs be affected by corporate actions on the underlying stocks? All corporate actions on the underlying stocks are applicable to CFDs.
    Are my HK Stocks held in custody? Yes.
