- US markets gains on broker upgrades in GS and rebound in natural gas prices.
- Dow sectors: Best; Financials +1.0%, Tech +0.8%, Basic Materials +0.3%. Worst; Healthcare -1.7%, Telco’s -0.3%, Cons Services -0.2%
- Warren Buffett comments to ABC the economy is not in recovery and may need more federal stimulus.
- Treasuries fall, following $11bn auction of 30yr bonds. US 10yr notes up 0.11% to 3.41%
- Commodities:
- Oil, rises from 7 week low as USD slips against major currencies. Gold & Copper also gain on USD weakness.
- Alcoa reached traded to highs of 6.6% near the open bell, before closing down -2.4%
- Eco Data:
- Initial Jobless claims 565k v cons 603k
- Continuing claims 6883k v cons 6710k
- Wholesale Inventories -0.8% v cons -1.0%
- ICSC Chain store sales YoY -5.1% v prior -4.6%
